We're excited! Green Drinks is a little different this month - on Thursday instead of the usual Friday, a little earlier in the month and a little earlier in the evening to accommodate northbound ferry traffic, and just over the bridge - you won't want to miss it!

Grounds for Change and owners Stacy and Kelsey Marshall will welcome us to their coffee roasting plant and share their inspiring story about how their business is making a difference in the world of environmental sustainability and social equity - locally and globally!

As usual, locally-made wine will be featured at the no-host bar, and Stacy & Kelsey will treat us with delectable appetizers and dessert prepared by The Food Shed in Kingston

This month, we're delighted to partner with Fork & Spoon, where, Carolyn Goodwin writes in a recent article for Sound Food, "the menu is built around local and seasonal ingredients, a logical outgrowth of owners Jeff Shepherd and Heidi Umphenour's longtime connection with local farmers." And, we can always count on a fun time, with Manager Lena Davidson and the staff in charge; they're planning a good happy-hour deal on Island wine and local beer, and will provide some light complimentary snacks along with their regular menu items.

It's our third monthly Green Drinks - hope you can join us!  This month, our hosts are Chris and Julie Mills at the Island Art Center (aka the Bainbridge Underground).  You'll be amazed at what goes on there - art, music, movement, and more!  We'll feature locally made wine from Eagle Harbor Wine Company and beer brewed at Silver City Brewery in Bremerton at our cash bar (with wholesale prices) and a spread of complimentary snack food from some great purveyors of local food.

We strongly encourage carpooling--it saves parking space and it's better for the planet.  This is a Zero Waste event!  We use only cloth napkins and real glasses, compost as much as we can, and minimize trash.

FIRST EVER Bainbridge Island Green Drinks - Friday, April 23, 2010

This, our first Green Drinks was an huge success!  Thanks to our hosts, sponsors, organizers, and all of the 150 people from various sectors of the community who came to meet and mingle with old friends and new, and share stories, laughter, great food and drinks!

Who's invited? People who care about the environment and creating a sustainable, resilient community.  Educators, business people, government officials and staff, nonprofit boards/staff/members, and citizens!

Why:  Simply getting together - without an agenda, a dilemma to resolve, or a strategy to develop! Join us for these very informal monthly gathering with local snacks and beer/wine (and non-alcoholic beverages), and watch for local news/publicity/social networking about upcoming Green Drinks!
