The Newport Energy & Environment Commission will honor Rachael Lessne, owner of Green Envy; Kristin Littlefield, Clean City Coordinator, will answer questions about the new trash & recycling program and; Bike Newport will update us on their recent events, programs, and happenings.
November 20, 2014 - Blithewold Mansion, Gardens & Arboretum will host a statewide Green Drinks! Come and meet Green Drinkers from around the state and view the mansion's gorgeous holiday decorations. More details to follow.

April 3, 2014 - The Atlantic Cup, presented by 11th Hour Racing, will be hosting at Hood Sailmakers, 23 Johnnycake Hill, Middletown, RI from 5:30pm - 7:30pm. Please stop by for a cold beverage, check out the Hood Sailmakers Loft, and hear about what's in store for the 2014 Atlantic Cup. Since its inception, the Atlantic Cup is committed to being the most sustainable sailing race in the USA.

Join us from 5:30pm - 7:30pm as the OHPRI team gives an informative talk about Rhode Island's Tall Ship and the experiences and adventures one can expect when she sails this summer. October 4, 2012 - Jamestown Arts Center, 18 Valley Street, Jamestown, RI. Looking forward to a fun-filled evening from 5:00pm - 8:00pm at Jamestown Arts Center, hosted by Packaging 2.0 and Surfrider Foundation, in support of the 5 Gyres Last Straw Bike Tour.
Featuring a special presentation by 5 Gyres, a non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating the accumulation of plastic pollution in the five subtropical ocean gyres. The 5 Gyres team will show compelling pictures and videos of their voyages aboard the 72-foot sailboat conducting research throughout our oceans. They will share personal stories and discuss how we can work to stop the flow of plastic into the sea.

April 5, 2012 - Save The Bay, Exploration Center & Aquarium, Easton's Beach, Newport, RI from 5:30pm-8:00pm.
Speakers for the evening include Kristin Littlefield, Clean City Coordinator for the City of Newport, the Director of Education at Save the Bay, Bridget Kubis-Prescott, and the Director of Save the Bay, Jonathan Stone.
Light snacks will be provided by A-Market and their restaurant Keenwah, which specializes in delicious super foods. Beer and wine will also be served for a suggested $5 donation to Save the Bay.

October 13, 2011 - Green Drinks Newport has been pushed back a week in October because our host, Keenwah, will be opening around the day of our usual gathering time. Located at 311 Broadway (on the corner of Bliss Road), Keenwah is a new cafe and superfood eatery.
August 24, 2011 - SPECIAL GREEN DRINKS EVENT! Our annual statewide Green Drinks will be held once again from 5pm-8pm at Narragansett Beach. Join the other Green Drinks chapters around the state, including a new one in Burrillville, which is the fourth chapter in Rhode Island! Newport Storm will be providing the beer and stick around for movie night on the beach!

Special guest: Captain Joseph Voboril, Commanding Officer, Naval Station Newport, who will be speaking about the Environmental Assessment for the development of wind energy facilities at the Naval Station.

John Stier, Marine Systems Instructor will be speaking about upcoming events related to green technology. Special guest Nigel Calder will be available to answer questions about his hybrid powered marine propulsion systems. Nigel is the foremost authority on Marine Systems and a principal in the European Union's HYMAR project.

January 13, 2010 - SPECIAL GREEN DRINKS EVENT! Join Green Drinkers from around the state of Rhode Island at the Herreshoff Museum, 1 Burnside Street, Bristol, RI. 5pm-8pm.
The Herreshoff Marine Museum is poised to become a unique model for "green" preservation and education. In 2007 the Museum embarked upon a program of "greening" its historic campus and will soon break ground on a new "green" Waterfront Education and Exhibition Center.
During the evening you'll have the opportunity to meet and hear from the Museum's team who are participating in this exciting initiative and others on the Museum's campus. Join Friedrich St. Florian Architects; Alteris Renewables; Allied Engineering; their team from Brown University's Center for Environmental Studies; Christine Malecki West, Principal of KITE Architects; GECKO; and others who are participating in this effort. Portions of the Museum's campus will be opened for special "behind the scenes" tours so that you can discover the historic structures the Museum is planning to preserve, restore, and reuse as it continues to realize its vision of bringing together businesses, schools, and individuals in a collaborative Herreshoff Marine Technology Complex where the skills and technologies of modern marine enterprise can be inspired by the past and directed toward other ventures such as renewable energy and sustainable living.
During the evening you will also be able to enjoy locally produced food and drinks from while taking inspiration from the exhibits and stories chronicling more than 150 years of the Herreshoff Manufacturing Company, the America's Cup, and the people and yachts that gained fame around the world.

Eating local and organic is an important part of living sustainably, but these terms can often be confusing for consumers. Karla will be educating the group about what the terms mean, what to look for and the importance of eating local and organic food.
