Our Topic:  Life in the Hive and What We Can Do To Ensure It Thrives

One out of every three bites of food that we eat is made possible by pollinators like honey bees. As the growers of most of our food, farmers know how much we all rely on these pollinators. Statistics shows the number of beekeepers and honey bee hives in our country is on the rise, but there are still a number of factors contributing to honey bee health issues.

Meet Nairn Hollott, a beekeeper and member of the Capital Region Beekeepers Association and learn about life ina honey bee hive and what we can do to ensure that future health of bees and other pollinating insects.

Also hear from Carol Pickup, Chair of the Farmlands Trust Society about the work underway to support a healthy bee population on the historic Newman Farm in Central Saanich.
