We're pleased to be initiating the first Green Drink series in Cusco, Peru. We will be hosting monthly presentations, often on the second Thursday of the month (unless otherwise indicated), on environmental issues relating to Peru and the Cusco area. Each meeting will feature a topic of interest - conservation, recycling, reforesting, etc. - and will include time for discussion and networking. We hope participants will find them both informative and interesting, and fun as well!
We started off the series with our first meeting in December 2009-
Dr. Alex Chepstow-Lusty of the French Institute of Andean Studies in Lima presented his studies on the collapse of the ancient Nazca culture due to destruction of their ecological system.
This month:
SAVE THE DATE!!
Friday, September 17th - Cusco Recycling Pilot project, presented by the Comité K´antupata community group
Come hear about several projects in support of making the historic San Blas area of Cusco more sustainable environmentally and culturally. This area (represented by the sector Kantupata) is rich in Inca history and natural beauty, but increasing population and other factors have contributed to problems of solid waste and polluted streams, traffic/air pollution, and degradation of the historic aspect and charm. Join us in hearing about actions already taken or underway, and to share ideas for future solutions. Location - SAE Cusco Clubhouse, Atoqsaycuchi 670, San Blas, Cusco, Peru Date and Time - Friday, September 17th, 7 pm
